All developers know that getting a feature spot from Apple can mean massive things for your game. Increasing your exposure on such a well-known platform can help you to increase your download numbers, attract more monthly active users and ultimately lead to you making the big bucks. But with so many great games being presented to the Apple team every day, how do you make yours stand out from the rest? At the recent GamesBeat Conference in San Francisco, former Apple App Store Marketing Manager, Michael Ehrenberg, revealed the best ways to get the right kind of attention for your app.
“It’s all about storytelling and sharing what you love”, said Ehrenberg.
The former Apple App Store Marketing Manager and current consultant continued by emphasizing just how much a presentation can be influenced by the passion you convey. Ehrenberg urged iOS developers to present the team at Apple with the app they love and the one they are truly passionate about. Your love for the app will come through in the pitch and this makes the team more genuinely interested in what you have to say – after all, if you love it so much, why shouldn’t they?
A big finish is always a great way to stay in their minds long after you’re gone, with Ehrenberg saying, “Make the punch at the end count. Everything in between is about maintaining their attention.”
The top tip from the Apple genius? “Developers put so much work into their games,” he said. “But they should put as much time and energy and love into selling the game as they do building the game.”
If you aren’t sure where to begin, because you may not have contacts within Apple, you can always send through an email to AppStorePromotion@apple.com. The App Store Marketing Team read through these emails and forward through the best for consideration – so make it count.
