While Apple has reported that the iPhone 6 has sold more than 10 million devices in its first weekend since launch, mobile users are less than enthusiastic about the latest iOS 8 update. The new operating system is available for iPhone 5 and iPhone 6 owners, however only approximately 25% of eligible users have installed the update. The iPhone 6 is currently available to people in Australia, the United States, Canada, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, Puerto Rico, Singapore and the United Kingdom. While the numbers are already impressive, Apple is hoping to have launched the iPhone 6 in a total of 115 countries by the close of 2014, so it’s inevitable that its popularity will continue to grow.
The iOS 8 update has been deemed as unnecessary by a number of users, although the latest operating system has been designed to enhance the user’s experience, particularly for those with a shiny new iPhone 6. While only 25% of iPhone 5 and 6 owners have installed iOS, we’re likely to see a big jump in numbers as the sales of the iPhone 6 continue to boom.
A recent study conducted by NativeX has shown as that strategy gamers were the most likely target audience to adopt the latest operating system, in comparison to general users, with a 17.6% installation rate over just the first 24 hours since release. On the opposite end of the scale, people who enjoy indulging in casino style games were the least likely to want to adopt the new system, with just 10.6% of these users installing iOS 8 during the first 48 hour period.
If you’ve done your research on iOS 8, as it appears these strategy gamers have, you’ll know that the changes will only improve your mobile gaming experience. We all know change can be a little scary, but if you like to game on your iPhone, do yourself a favour and update your operating system today.
