The latest in physics puzzle games has hit the Google Play Store, as Broken Studio launches Pet Trio for android users. We’ve seen great success for similar apps on both iOS and Android, with the likes of Bubble Ball and Alex Amazing, released by the infamous Rovio in 2013. Pet Trio begins as players venture forward on a journey with three adorable characters – the Psychic Cat, the Telekinesis Pug and, of course, the Genius Hamster. While the levels vary greatly in difficulty, the objective is always the same, as you put your mind to work at creating a path for a lost key to reach the cushion, where your animal friends wait eagerly.
Physics puzzle games can be difficult to develop to a standard that competes with the high caliber range of this style of game already flourishing in the app stores. While I think the game design still needs a little tweaking, overall Pet Trio provides exactly what the user has signed up for – challenging levels that will really get your mind ticking.
As far as monetisation is concerned, the integration of banner ads within the app needs some consideration. While they definitely cannot be missed, the banners are situated along the top of the screen, which incidentally is also where your puzzle pieces are placed. This proved to be a problem when playing, as I couldn’t actually retrieve my puzzle pieces without clicking on the annoying banner ads. Logically, I flipped my phone on its side to see if the game would transform to landscape play, which may make the positioning of banner ads less annoying, but it appears to only be playable with your phone in an upright position. If you do love the game, however, and want to remove the pesky banner ads, you can upgrade your download by unlocking a premium version ranging from $0.99-$1.99.
Much thought has gone into the theory behind Pet Trio, which is exactly what you want from any good physics puzzle game, as it focuses on depicting cause and effect in motion to produce a chain reaction. Android users can download Pet Trio for free from the Google Play Store today – and with what seems like an endless number of levels to challenge you, this new game is sure to keep you entertained for hours!
