Last week we featured a post showcasing the most loved iOS games of 2014, as published by the team at Apple. Now, it’s time for Android developers to shine as we delve into the Google Play Store Top Lists of 2014.
Not only has the past twelve months proven to be one of the most lucrative for the mobile gaming industry as a whole, but it’s also shown us that we’ve become a generation of gamers who love engaging in the full experience and sharing our accomplishments along the way. A record 3.5 billion achievements were unlocked by Play Game users in 2014, proving that a little healthy competition can do wonders for reaching a Top List ranking.
So, what were the most additive Android games that we simply couldn’t stop playing this year? It appears as though both iOS and Android users continue to love Candy Crush Saga, as it takes out the number one position as the most downloaded title of 2014 in the Google Play Store. Don’t Tap the White Tile came in at number two, while another King title made it into the top five with Farm Heroes Saga making an appearance in third position.

Stepping away from games for a moment, some of my favourites were certainly featured in the “Most Downloaded Apps by Category” section. Tripadvisor took out the top spot for Travel, Facebook was once again seen topping the charts for Social Apps, along with Flipagram getting a mention in the Photography Section and, last but certainly not least, music lovers showed us just how much they enjoyed Pandora in 2014.
