Brought to us from Telltale Games, the creators of such titles as The Walking Dead and The Wolf Among Us, Minecraft: Story Mode is the game we’ve all been waiting for. Since its original debut onto desktop computers around the world in 2009, the original Minecraft game has won the hearts of fans internationally, many of whom have lost hours of their lives to the endless trap of mining “just a few more rows” in the hope of finding diamond, only to lose it all when you unexpectedly fall down a hole into complete darkness…. and then undoubtedly find yourself dying in a pool of lava.
While the original Minecraft brought us everything we could possibly want (and then some), I personally cannot wait to see what this next narrative-driven episode will reveal. Telltale Games is promising existing fans of the franchise a whole new experience in Minecraft: Story Mode, allowing them to immerse themselves in a familiar world, with familiar faces – but offering a whole new interpretation of the classic to fall in love with.
“Partnering with Mojang is a dream come true for us as game makers and as storytellers,” said Kevin Bruner, president and co-founder of Telltale Games. “Minecraft is a world of infinite possibility and imagination. Working with the Mojang team on our own unique, story-driven interpretation of their fascinating universe is a tremendous honor. We simply cannot wait for fans across the world to take off with us on this new adventure.”
While this proves to be a very exciting time for both Mojang and fans of the game, we’ll all have to bring our excitement down a notch, as an exact release date is yet to be confirmed, with Telltale Games assuring us we’ll see the title on iOS and Android devices in 2015.
