One of the handiest apps doing the rounds is the all impressive new Office Lens app by Microsoft. This app essentially acts as a portable scanner allowing you to digitally save and edit pictures of documents or whiteboards. While there are many similar apps on the market, Microsoft is offering a unique and handy feature of Office integration.
Office lens enables users to convert the images into Powerpoint or Word format documents. Another unique feature is that the app will convert the writing in the image to text through the use of Optical Character Recognition. Office lens also offers amazing capabilities such as being able to convert hand drawn images from a whiteboard to objects that can be fully edited. You can also upload a picture of a business card and have it automatically saved to your contacts.
So if you’re taking pictures to use with Office Lens, it will automatically crop, enhance and tidy the business card, menus, whiteboards or even sticky notes and export them to various formats. Recently, Microsoft launched an iPhone version of Office Lens as well as a preview of the Android app until its ready for launch to the Google Play Store.
This is a very useful tool, no matter whether you’re at home, in the office or out and about!
