A new and unique feature has been introduced by Snapchat and will appear when you open the updated version of application. Replacing the original “best friends” list is the new Emoji list that ranks your friendships from those to whom you are closest. The Best Friends list was reportedly removed in January and replaced with the new Emoji system. Along with the system is a key for the meaning of each icon.
Gold Heart – The person who sends and receives the most snaps
Grit Teeth – The person you snap the most is also snapped the most by this person
Smile – This is for the person who receives the most snaps from you
Sunglasses – The person who receives snaps from you regularly receives snaps from this person
Smirk – This face symbolises a person who sends mostly to you, but you do not send mostly to them
Fire – This is significant for those who have exchanged snaps consecutively for a number of days
It’s now possible to keep better track of your relationships and the system is designed to replace the existing feature of making the information public. It can now be kept private which is important to those who value their privacy.
Additionally, Snapchat has added an extra feature designed to provide you with information as to how you react with them. For example, “Needs love” will appear on some of the friends in your “Recents” menu, reminding you that haven’t sent them snaps recently.
It has been said that these new features are “gamifying” Snapchat, turning the interactions between one another into a sport. If not being for artificial reasons, the new features could be a way of psychologically encouraging users to continue Snapchatting. If you would like to avoid being cautioned with “Needs Love” and having your favourite Emoji’s disappear then its important to keep up with the Snapachatting: after all – we couldn’t have that happen!
In addition, one of Snapchat’s more functional updates is that it has enhanced its low-light camera to make it more workable. Now, a moon icon will show up to signify that Snapchat is now using low-light features and once it is pressed will give a brighter effect.
