There are plenty of dating apps around now days for iOS and Android users and new to the market is the app Wiith. There is a key difference between dating apps and Wiith, while dating apps help you get in touch with people to “date”, Wiith helps you get in touch with people to just hang out without worry about being on a “date.
Until the launch of Wiith people looked to Meetup.com, being one of largest networks for local groups. Meetup.com helps people to find existing meet up group or organise a local group. “Meetup just isn’t right for natural encounters – it’s too rigid. We think Wiith is a lot more spontaneous than Meetup, along with not having the dating stigma of Tinder.” Says the Co-founder Jeff Hodnett.
The Wiith app aims to allow people to meet up for local events and activities and connect those nearby who share interests. Users can join others’ posted events or create their own. Much like Tinder, it offers the functionality to swipe through potential applicants and anonymously choose who they wish to accompany. They then get a notification when the app concludes an appropriate hangout choice.
At current there are approximately 1000 users in San Francisco Bay Area and Peninsula and we will no doubt see the app grow.
The app was created by Edwards and Hodnett who were new to the Bay Area and looking to meet new people. The app is also said to be valuable for those visiting the area, who would like to meet people for hangouts such as lunch or coffee.
The app has the perfect potential to reach the younger mobile generation and could be the perfect app for those on the market for casual encounters. Wiith is currently available for download from the App Store.
