The Indonesia mobile-gaming startup Touchten has recently received funding from mobile gaming giant Gree. For Gree, which is publicly traded in Japan and has earned a staggering billion dollars in revenue in 2014, this is the first ever Southeast Asia gaming investment.
The co-investor along side Gree is 500 startups and for the Jakarta-based Touchten this is their third round.
Anton Soeharyo, the chief executive of Touchten aims to bring happiness to millions of people and make his country proud of the gaming business. He said in a recent statement, “It’s a start of an exciting journey, and when a giant gaming company like Gree is knocking at your door, offering their help, you just have to take it,”.
In 2011, Touchten also received funding from Ideosource then another round from CyberAgent Ventures, UOB Venture Management, TMS Entertainment (Sega Sammy Group) in 2013.
Joining Touchten’s board will be GREE’s vice president Katsushi Iida who has recently expressed that he was impressed with Touchten’s growth and track record in the region.
Allowing users to win real rewards when playing mobile games Touchten released a new game publishing platform with an “offline to offline” (O2O) feature. Their initial game Teka Teki Saku had more 60 000 total redemption’s and drew more than 40 sponsoring merchants.
With merchants such as Pond’s and Uber on the roadmap Touchten is hoping to expand their number of merchants. Touchten’s hit game Sushi Chain has been downloaded over 3 million times and additionally, their game Dagelan had more than 400 000 downloads on Android devices.
Touchten is in the mix of hiring business and production people in the hopes of releasing 25 casual games and three mid-core games for mobile devices.
Today having 35 employees the company is looking towards expansion and growth. The company was founded in 2009 by Dede Indrapurna, Roki Soeharyo and Anton Soeharyo.
