Earlier this week the gay dating app Lavendr announced that it has released its newest version. While grinder, Lavendr’s closest competitor more seems to focus on casual sex connections and Lavendr, aims to connect people through communication and deeper connections.
Unlike many other dating apps where users tend to go offsite for communication either via texting, Facebook or other modes, Lavendr aims to have more of a robust platform in order to continue the communication between the users after the first date.
The app has been rather successful, having to date over 100 000 monthly active users and 15000 daily active users. Based on mutual interests the app formulates over 10 000 matches. The company has a goal to reach 1 million users by the end of 2015 and is on target with roughly 2000 users signing up for the application daily.
It has been said that the app is no 1 in app searches for both Android and Ios. In a recent statement the CTO Martin Stava said “We want to make Lavendr the leading gay dating app on the global market. We currently have around 100,000 monthly active users and plan to hit the 1 million mark by next year, which I think is realistic. Our product is essentially the gay version of Tinder. … The feedback has been tremendous.”
Some of the key features for the new version include Instagram integration, a redesigned user interface, improved messaging, age and distance filters as well as rich user profiles.
The app is available for a free download from Apple’s iTunes Store and Google Play.
