New to the app stores is Nakedshelf News by Nakedshelf, the London-based startup. It was launched on both iTunes App Store and Google Play to encourage conversation about news articles users share and read.
Using their favourite sources, users are able to customise their news feed by topic or country.
The Nakedshelf app allows users to follow other and add these friends others as additional news sources. They are also able to share stories with the followers as they read. In order to limit visibility users can change their profile to ‘private although by default the profiles offer public reading histories.
To make finding additional relevant stories easier the news articles are marked with hashtags. Users are able to tap on each shelf, or news source within the app to search or view more articles from the similar source.
Following reading the story users are able to comment on the article and chat about it with their followers. The articles can be shared to LinkedIn, Google+, Twitter and Facebook.
The co-founder of Nakedshelf, Abdul Hamid said in a recent statement “ In a statement, The future of news will come from other people, and we will increasingly rely on recommendations and smarter social cues from friends or respected strangers as we sort through the vast amount of information available online. Nakedshelf is an amazingly simple way of meeting that shift.
