Recently launched for iOS devices is the social platform for crowdsourced opinions, Sayer. Users are encouraged to voice their opinions on topics and thought provoking questions. For other users to answer, users create ‘Sooths’, the in app lingo for their very own questions.
There are a number of different varied questions raised within the app such as serious ones from politics to light hearted questions around entertainment. Users can see as many questions as they like, from few to many, within the app after registering. The answers will be shown on a percentage breakdown to see how their response compares to those from other users.
Patrick Davis, the founder and CEO of Slayer said in a recent statement “Over the last few years, I’ve found myself losing interest in social media, and I wanted to figure out why. I realized that the best conversations in the non-digital world are fueled by thought-provoking questions. We set out to build a social community based around conversation-inspiring questions, what we call Sooths.”
Prompts are divided into two categories when creating Sooths; polls or predictions. Further to this they are again broken down by category such as sports, or business. Users have the capability of responding up to five times to each Sooth, as well as tag each question to help to find others.
Questions can also be shared to Twitter and Facebook within the app. Users are also able to choose an expiration date to limit the amount of time users have to respond.
To track their participation within the app each user is given a profile. The app has the capability of delivering the percentage of correctly and incorrectly answered predictions. Users can view others answers and keep track of their new questions. The profile also includes a point rating system which is determined by the amount of correct predictions.
Davis also said in the recent statement “ We want to nurture a community where anyone can exercise their curiosity and have fun questioning the world around them.”
Sayer is available for a free download from the iTunes App Store.
