Just recently the Finnish developer Seriously, creators of Best Friends, has received a staggering $18 million Series A round of funding. Overall the total funding to date for the developer has reached $28 million.
Northzone, of whom the round was lead by, previously also invested in other Finnish developers such as UK dev Space Ape, Play Raven and Boomlagoon. Korea Investment Partners, Upfront Ventures, Daher Capital and Sunstone Capital all played a role in the investment as well.
Seriously plans to expand its marketing initiatives with the funding and build on their production team. It hopes to debut franchise for Best Friends going further than mobile gaming and diving into global entertainment.
Best Friends has had a great response so far, having over 15 million downloads and 1.35 million daily active players. In the later half of 2015, seriously plans to release its second game in the planned trilogy.
