After Rovio Entertainment’s launch of Angry Birds 2 the game reached 20 million downloads after only one week.
It was reported that in just 12 hours after the launch there had been 1 million downloads and at four days reached the 10 million mark. For the first week on the app stores Rovio released its official download figures which showed it had then sky rocketed to 20 million downloads.
When compared with their first release Angry Birds, it took the game over 9 months to reach this same amount of players.
The popular character Red and his friends were flung over 1.4 billion times, venturing through over 300 million levels. On top of this the Destruct-O-Meter was maxed out over 350 times.
In over 100 countries Angry Birds 2 was at the top of the most downloaded chart for both Android and iOS.
Rovio’s Chief Commercial Officer, Alex Lambeek said in a recent statement “While Angry Birds 2 is off to a great start around the world, including key markets in the Americas and Europe, in China we are gaining a new foothold and seeing remarkable fruits of our well-functioning partnership with Kunlun,“
Week on week since the release Angry Birds 2 has dominated headlines. It is remarkable the amount of downloads Rovio has seen for its latest release and we will no doubt see the continued success of its app growth around the world.
The app is available for free download from Apples App Store and Google Play.
