Just recently McDonalds has announced the roll-out of its new mobile app in the US. The app has been said to feature a loyalty programme for the chain’s drinks.
The McDonald’s app has been made available for people in the San Diego region and offers consumers the ability to earn a free beverages after five purchases of coffees and shakes from the McCafe. After tampering with tests and variations to the app, the company hopes to have it made available nationally by October.
It can be said that fast food chains are trying to target more of the younger customers and mobile apps are a way to offer them convenience and generate customer loyalty.
At current, the McDonalds app offers a store locator and the ability to browse the nutritional values of various items on the menu. The app does not yet allow for customers to order and pay for food.
Becca Hary, a spokeswoman for McDonald’s Corp said that franchises will be able to promote special deals to their regions. In the San Diego region there is an offer available to buy one Big Mac and get one free.
Hary says the app is soon to be launched in New York City and it will continue to be refined to offer more tailored promotional offers.
The app will no doubt create great customer loyalty for company as we continue to see the app roll out throughout more regions in the near future.
