Recently launched to the Google Play store is the BuzzFeed News app by BuzzFeed. The aim of the app is to allow users to view a list of content and stories from BuzzFeed itself, as well as other news outlets. The stories are mainly focused on current prominent topics.
The news app offers readers articles curated by BuzzFeed editors from around the web via a ‘Catch Up’ feed. It also stays on top of important and current tweets. Users can tap on the description of the article to view full stories, or tap on a tweet to see the full tweet and other information on Twitter.
Alerts are available to be set for topics that are significant to them. While the user can customise alerts, there are default alerts for major breaking news articles. There are also additional options to receive alerts in relation to business, technology stories, world news and many more.
Stacey-Marie Ishmael the managing editor of mobile news at BuzzFeed commented in a recent blog post “We built BuzzFeed News for Android to be faithful to the core tenets of Material Design, Google’s recommended principles for apps on its platform, and to be wicked fast for our audiences no matter how EDGE-y their data connections. This is just our opening gambit—there’s even more to come.”
The BuzzFeed News app is now available for a free download from Google Play.
