As the hit mobile gaming sensation, Temple Run, makes its mark by reaching 500 million downloads, developers conjure up new ideas to market the already successful game. While most companies are focused on monetising their apps through games that cost or in-app purchases, the creators of Temple Run have gone outside the box with their thinking, branching into plush toys and new hand-held gaming devices.
While the endless running game has already been a huge success on iOS and Android devices, Imangi announced that they will further market their app by releasing a range of plush toys, based on the characters from the application – a great way to celebrate their success of reaching 500 million downloads. While no one is too grown-up for toys, particularly those of beloved characters, this marketing technique is sure to entice younger players into the non-stop action of Temple Run. Factory Entertainment will be behind the scenes to create the plush toy characters and are known as one of the leading designers in all things pop-culture. While the series of plush toys may have the curiosity of the youngsters peeked, the new hand-held LCD version of the game is sure to be a family favourite. While still topping the charts across iTunes and Google Play, the game will now be available for a one off purchase of $9.99, wrapped neatly into a durable device with a handy clip on feature – perfect for kids (of all ages) who are constantly on the move.
Keith Sheperd, co-founder of Imangi Studios released a statement saying “Our work with Factory Entertainment and Basic Fun will connect Temple Run fans to the characters and stories they have interacted with for the last three years,” and that “We’re looking forward to announcing more partnerships this year, so stay tuned.”
Imangi Studios have created partnerships, like that with Factory Entertainment, which takes monetising your mobile app to the next level.
