It’s all sunshine and daises for startup mobile advertising companies, as the latest results show their hard work is really paying off. Venture Beat recently conducted a survey of close to 200 game developers that showed many would choose a startup advertising company for iOS and Android applications, over the global span of Google. When it comes to monetisation of apps, developers have clearly shown that if you want to make the big bucks, the right decision is to steer clear of Google.
While smaller developers tend to migrate toward Google in the beginning, the bigger developers that have released in excess of 10 games have made their money by equipping themselves with the advertising techniques and skills of smaller startup ad companies. The results of the survey conducted by Venture Beat showed that the three most common forms of advertising are Interstitials, Banner Ads and, of course, Freemium In-app Purchases. There was both good and bad news for Banner Ads amongst the statistics; while game-makers labelled it as the most annoying form of advertising, the oldest form of app advertising has shown that it can still generate a hefty six figure weekly income, as it did for the creator of the infamous Flappy Bird.
The news of these choices by game developers could mean great things for many startup mobile advertising agencies, particularly with a headlining act such as Google being pushed from the spotlight. To sum up the headlining chatter of the survey, Venture Beat put it quite succinctly by stating that as far as smart game developers go, “They are most certainly not picking Google.”
