If there’s one thing we know for sure, it’s that social gamers love farming – and the trend seems to also be growing rapidly across the mobile gaming genre. Farmville 2: Country Escape is being launched onto iOS and Android devices, after the soft launch of the game proved to be an outstanding success. This second installment of the Farmville saga sees players creating their own brand new farm on the coastal shores and, much like the previous game, players will then produce resources and sell their crops to progress throughout the game. Those of us who love both social and mobile gaming will be happy to hear that Farmville 2 on Facebook and Farmville 2: Country Escape on mobile devices are linked, meaning players can send and access their crops and resources across the two platforms.
Like most games that jump platforms from social to mobile, players can expect to see much clearer and more precise graphics on mobile devices. The improvements with iOS and Android devices, particularly in the past twelve months, have allowed developers to really get creative with game designs and they are now expected to bring more to the table when making their games more aesthetically pleasing.
One of the great things that remains following the first installment of Farmville is that Zynga have done what they do best, created a game that’s perfect for solo players. As with most builder games, Farmville 2: Country Escape offers users the option to make in-app transactions to progress through the game at a faster pace. The original Farmville saw great success with monetisation through in-app purchases, so if the past is any indicator for Zynga, we’ll see quite a few mobile players splashing some cash when the addiction that is Farmville kicks in.
