When to industry heavy hitters come together, great things will happen and loads of money will be made. This was already proven to Kabam and Warner Bros., when the two partnered to bring us The Hobbit: Kingdoms of Middle-earth on mobile devices. That game alone saw the two companies grossing in excess of $100 million in just the first year after publication. Now, the two gaming giants are setting the bar even higher, announcing that they will partner again to bring us two different mobile games this time, one based on the infamous saga The Lord of the Rings and the other based on the action packed, blockbuster hit Mad Max.
The potential for growth and further success is mutual for both organisations, with representatives from both Kabam and Warner Bros. making it clear that they are both excited about the upcoming joint ventures.
“WBIE has been an amazing partner and we look forward to building on our previous success with these strong franchises,” said Kabam COO, Kent Wakeford. “Marquee brands like The Lord of the Rings and Mad Max are perfect for the deeply immersive and fun mobile games Kabam creates.”
“Kabam’s demonstrated expertise is very impressive, and extending our partnership with their team will help both companies achieve continued success,” added WBIE Executive Vice President of Publishing Operations, David Haddad. “Building two new mobile games based on well-known brands is a strategic part of our growth as the appetite for digital content continues to grow.”
Partnerships between organisations such as these in the past has shown us that when like-minded individuals come together, we can expect great things for the mobile gaming industry. Kabam is known for releasing their games into the freemium market, on both iOS and Android devices, so check back for the latest news on release dates. Warner Bros. and Kabam are improving the quality of production in the gaming industry, so personally, I’m very excited to see what will come next from the unstoppable duo.
