Adblock Browser by Eyeo has now been released to the iTunes and Google Play stores. It aims to offer users to the ability to search the internet with the freedom of having no Web ads. It has been said that Apple is also due to be launching an ad-blocking support for iOS9.
Eyeo, who are also the creators of Adblock Plus, said that the new Adblock Browser will save users battery life and data and is also free to download. It is said to also have the capability of blocking malware domains and trackers. The app allows nonintrusive ads to be displayed, considering them acceptable, while the so called ‘annoying’ ads are flagged and blocked. There is however, an option in the setting’s menu to also flag the nonintrusive ads and have them blocked.
The app allows users to disable anti-ad-blocking messages and social media buttons. There are also two default search engines available; Google and DuckDuckGo. Users can add specific websites to a whitelist in which it still enables ads to be displayed.
In a recent blog post by Adblock Plus they stated “Ads cost you data and therefore money. Because Adblock Browser has an ad blocker built in, you block the ad and save the cash. In addition, studies have shown that ads can tap your battery—over 20 percent of it—so the browser can save your power too.”
The Adblock Browser app is available for a free download from Google Play and iTunes App Store.
