Officially launched for iPad devices is the new curated video platform Hyper. On top of this, the developer raised a staggering $1.1 million in funding by Advancit Capital, alongside Lowercase Capital, Broadway Video Ventures, Mesa Ventures and Freeland Ventures. The app offers users a selection of videos on a range of topics from the internet on a daily basis.
Hyper focuses on topics such as style, culture, tech and global series, offering up to 12 new videos each day. The length of the videos are between 1- 20 minutes and are chosen by journalists, documentarians, artists and filmmakers. They select the top videos from 100’s of sources daily.
The app highlights the newest and best videos going around the internet without being any more than two days old. They are showcased in the form of a daily magazine and offers a menu for users to access groups and old ‘editions’ of videos.
Hyper offers a minimal interface with a title, video length and short description on the videos.
Users are provided with buttons to share the video with social media along with a pause menu that is shown when the screen is tapped. They can view other relevant links and information from this menu after they have tapped the screen to learn more.
Markus Gilles, the co-founder and CEO of Hyper said in a recent statement “ We’ve all gotten caught in the YouTube rabbit hole, the endless Netflix browsing, and the infinite barrage of trending clickbait – but that’s nowhere near the best way to experience the most interesting new content the web has to offer. We built Hyper to separate the signal from the noise and simply offer the best of the newest everyday.”
Hyper is available for a free download from the iTunes App Store.
