If you’ve been following the latest tech news, you’ll know there’s much hype surrounding the highly anticipated launch of the new Apple Watch. While we’ve already seen Samsung and various competitors releasing similar products, as with all Apple merchandise, they’ve given us just enough info to get more than a little excited before launch day.
For those of you living in the mobile gaming world, you’ll be happy to hear that developers are promising some iOS games for their latest watch, along with the predictable health and fitness apps that we’re sure to see.
What we’ve seen from iOS developers thus far is an abundance of puzzle games, which are really making the most of the Apple Watch capabilities, allowing gameplay to still run smoothly with great adaptations to already existing iPhone apps. Some of the best puzzle games we’ve seen so far are BoxPop, Rules! and BlastBall Duo.
Rules! is one game that should make a smooth transition to wrist gameplay, with the developers revealing that they’ll reduce the number of squares in each game to fit the smaller size of the Apple Watch, while still keeping the fun and addictive traits that players fell in love with in the original version, released in 2014.
Another craze that we’re predicting may take off in the smartwatch mobile games category is that of the virtual pet. When you think back to the days of the Tamagotchi, you’ll remember that the screen wasn’t much bigger than that of the latest smartwatches, so it only makes sense that developers will jump on board this oddly additive game category. One virtual pet game, Hatchi, has already been announced for the Apple Watch and from what has been revealed so far, it bares the strongest resemblance to the original Tamagotchi.
While Apple are keeping their cards close, revealing very little about their games and apps for the watch, developers are more than happy to create hype for their soon to be released titles, with more and more announcements surfacing every day.
Stay tuned for the latest in Apple Watch updates!
