After raising $1.5 in funding the Seattle-based company AppSheet plans to double its head count to approximately 15 workers. The funding was raised by the venture capital firm New Enterprise Associates.
Appsheet essentially enables companies to build custom mobile applications without code. Overall, the company has over 30 000 users across 150 countries.
The company pulls data from spreedsheets that businesses are already using which has been said to be there key differentiator. The data can be distributed to anyone via email once a spreadsheet is saved to the cloud and the app is told which cells to add and pull data to. It then customises the interface before it is sent.
The company was only launched about a year ago and has since picked up clients such as non-profits, small businesses and large enterprises including Sprint. Some uses of the app have been for field workers, sharing home listings with real estate clients, tracking inventory and also creating to-do lists (to a name a few).
AppSheet has now received a total of $2.1 million in funding between this latest round of seed funding and prior angel investments.
We will no doubt see the company continue to grow and build on their unique product offering with the recent funding.
