BitTorrent Sync, the file sharing application for mobile devices has now been updated by BitTorrent. It allows for the creation of new files and for users to edit existing ones without having to be at the computer. The app can share files device to device without using the cloud. It also offers the ability to share unlimited amounts with no size limits for folders.
Before the recent update, users were able to send files to another application to open them and it also allowed users to preview their items in folders. At that stage after the files were edited users were not able to sync the file back to their devices. This has now changed and users have the ability to edit and save the new version back to Sync.
For example, if a user is using a spreadsheet, they are now able to access the spreadsheet from a Sync folder, edit over the document and then save back to the folder for co-workers to then access.
When creating files, users can create note pages or videos and then share the files via the ‘save to Sync’ button. Previously, users were required to access the camera roll within Sync but now, they are able to share directly from their camera roll. The vice president of product management at BitTorrent, Erik Pounds said “ This update is an important one for us because it gives mobile power users the tools they need to be productive, both for work or personal activity. For all the desktop tasks that can now be done on a mobile device, the files you produce can live directly within a Sync folder, letting you share with the people and devices that need them, or to make edits on the go.”
The updated BitTorrent Sync is available for download at the iTunes App Store and Google Play.
