After a monumental peak, King announced its FY15 Q2 figures which shows the sales and profits had declined. This was however, after the peak from its hit game Candy Crush Saga being such a success previously. It was the second game ever to be a billion dollar franchise on mobile.
There have been some interesting figures released after King’s announcement of its initial public offering of up to $500 million on the New York stock exchange.
The public statement shows just how much of an impact Candy Crush Saga has had on King’s overall business.
Accounting for 78% of Kings gross bookings, Candy Crush Saga has 93 million daily activity users on Facebook and mobile. Based on a $1.9 billion annual revenue in 2013 it can be determined that the game generated approximately $1.5 billion.
Candy Crush Saga’s mobile players amount to $1.1 billion of King’s revenue throughout 2013 showing that 73% of the revenue was generated by mobile players.
Furthermore, if it turns out that percentage is in fact lower, the company is generating such a high amount of money on a daily basis, approximately $3.8 million from mobile games that Candy Crush Saga will have made just over $1 billion dollars to date.
This being said, Candy Crush Saga alongside Puzzle & Dragons by Gungho Online are the two highest performing mobile games generating one billion dollars in sales.
