The publishing platform, DWNLD has recently announced that it has received a $12 million Series A funding round by Greylock Partners. The company takes any website and turns it into a mobile application.
The transfer to a mobile app can be achieved with no coding skills required. The cofounder and Fritz Lanman and Cofounder and CEO Alexandra Keating enable web publishers to transfer their content to a native application with ease.
The apps created sport their own unique looks being customised by their users in various fonts, colours and layouts.
Users are also able to measure the performance of their app through the paid version. The app also offers in-app purchases, paid downloads, advertising as well as push notifications which range from $15 a month.
The free version enables users to have their own app that is integrated with blog content and social media.
DWNLD aims to offer users a market place with the new funding. This way they will integrate with API’s such as Shopify, Twilio, Stripe and more at lower prices that will have been negotiated by DWNLD.
John Lilly, one of the new board of directors said in a recent statement “Mobile has not been good to publishers,”. He continued “I’m not of the belief that ‘the web is dead, long live apps,’ but the web is sick. The web is not well right now, and being able to bridge for web to native apps is the key for a lot of these publishers as users begin downloading more and more apps.”.
The company has published over 2000 apps on behalf of users and since launching has received a total of $14 million in funding.
