The latest E3 in Los Angeles has brought some big news for mobile developers and gamers, one of the top announcements being the launch of MECH on iOS and Android devices. Brought to us by gaming legends EA/Chillingo, this announcement has set the bar high for what is claiming to be one of the most competitive third-person shooters on mobile devices. The preview at E3 uncovered impressive graphics and game play for MECH, developed by the team at Small Impact Games. What is becoming an increasingly popular trend amongst first person and third person shooters on mobile devices, MECH will allow players to take each other on in real time battles.
Choosing from one of twelve mechs, players will also have access to an arsenal of more than 28 weapons. One significant aspect of the game is that players are able to customise their mech to suit their playing style, as they venture through the various levels that will take them everywhere from scorched deserts to bustling city streets. MECH also allows players to choose their battle style, so you can play at your best by versing real world players in either a defensive or offensive way.
The game is set to be released late in 2014, so while we’re tempted by the flare of what it said to be one of the best third person shooters around, EA/Chillingo say that we can expect more after launch, with many game specifics still yet to be announced. With no exact launch date released, there has been no word as to whether or not the game will cost or be free to play, but with the enticement of rocket launchers, eight player online multiplayer games and powering by the Unreal 3 Engine, this will be just a small hurdle for the developers.
