A recent study reveals just how long people are spending on the Facebook mobile app each month. Within a month, Facebook’s 222 million monthly users will on average spend 14 hours within the company’s mobile app.
When it comes to WhatsApp and Youtube, users are spending 6.6 and 9 hours less on them, respectively.
The study concludes a huge discrepancy between the total reach of the app and the time spent on the app. For example, between WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger, Whatsapp has been more successful in engaging its audience of over 10 million US users however Messenger has the greatest reach of 87 million US users.
Compared to the total time spent by users on the Messenger app each month WhatsApp users are spending 5 hours more per month on its app.
This difference in user engagement could be one of the underlying factors behind WhatsApp’s valuation of $19 billion when the company was acquired by Facebook in 2014.
The time spent on Facebook’s messaging app amounts to a staggering 76% of the total time spent by users on Facebook.
If you were questioning where Twitter is placed in all this, it is now ranking at 5th place when it comes to the total time spent by mobile users on a monthly basis.
Without surprise, Facebook is leading the way when it comes to the total time spent by users on its app. This information can certainly come in handy when it comes to marketers who are looking to place their time and spend in mobile marketing campaigns!
