Recently launched to the iTunes App Store is the new fashion app called Knomi. The app incorporates social features with purchases on offer, while users can search through various products from multiple designers and boutiques. The app is also available to users in other countries although the app is targeted at users in the UK.
With the app users are able to search designers and individual brands as well as specific kinds of accessories and clothing such as items, shoes, bags and vintage etc. There are over 400 000 products available to men and women and users can ‘collect’ special items by pressing the wand icon on the item image. When a user would like to purchase an item, they can tap the buy button to visit the retailer’s website from inside the app to then follow through with the transaction.
The Knomi founders conducted research that showed when users purchase expensive items they are more likely to ask for advice and feedback from friends. With this information they created a process that allows the app users to send information about various items to their friends, which they can then talk about the product from within the app. If the users sends the product details to someone who is not a user of the app, they will receive a text message offering them to download Knomi as well as an image of the product.
Furthermore, on top of searching items in curated lists, users are also able to follow other users and view their selected items in the home feed. Once a user has selected an item to view from the feed, shoppers can view other users who have shopped for the same item and view their other purchases or bookmarked products.
Hans-Christina Zappel, the co-founder of Knomi said it a recent statement “ At the moment, there are two mainstream ways of shopping. There’s offline brick-and-mortar shopping, which is a very social activity, and online shopping, which is inherently unsocial. With Knomi, we hope to make online fashion more social and combine online inspiration and offline shopping into a seamless experience.”
Knomi is available for a free download from the iTunes App Store.
