If you’re a fan of the already hugely popular Mortal Kombat franchise, you’ll be excited to hear the news that Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment has today announced the launch of Mortal Kombat X on mobile devices, to coincide with the release of the Mortal Kombat X on console & PC. This April, existing console & PC players will have the chance to sync their accounts with their mobile devices, allowing them to reap the benefits of playing across both platforms. While developer NetherRealm Studios has created the title to be playable as a standalone game, we’re now seeing more and more mobile titles being developed to enhance the playing experience on both PC and console.
Whether you’re playing for extra bonuses on your linked account or are planning on fighting your way through the mobile version alone, you’re definitely in for a treat – with epic multiplayer team combat gameplay announced for users on the go, which will undoubtedly include some of your favourite characters.
Players who have enjoyed the flashy styling of past Mortal Kombat games will be happy to hear that fresh game design has not taken away from the over-the-top antics that we all know and love, as Ed Boon, creative director of NetherRealm Studios, stated, “NetherRealm Studios has created a Mortal Kombat X mobile experience that allows more players than ever before to play this over-the-top fighting game through their ever-present smartphones, tablets or other devices. What’s more, we’ve expanded the unique cross-connectivity feature that links the mobile and console versions of Mortal Kombat X, delivering unique rewards to all players for simply playing the mobile game.”
The console and PC versions of Mortal Kombat X are due to be released on April 14, so while no date has yet been announced for iOS and Android players, we’re sure it will be linked closely to the first launch.
