The news app Pipes has now been launched for iOS devices. The aim of the app is to summarise news stories of over two million topics and focuses on personalising the content for each user.
Users can follow four different news categories including Music, Parenting, Fashion and Astronomy. Based on their selections, Pipes provides a feed of stories which includes recommended stories. The story offers a brief summary as well as an image. More content is enabled once a user clicks on the story as well as a link to the article on the original website. On all targeted devices including Apple Watch, users can listen to the stories through an audio option.
The story is delivered in dot point’s summary or in its standard form and this varies between cases. Without leaving the app users can click a full story button from the dot point summary to view the full story. Users can save stories to read later, post likes to stories that appeal to them and share articles to friends outside of the app.
As users become more frequent within the app they will see more recommended topics in their news feed. Users can tap the tag symbol on the articles image to view and follow similar topics once they have found an interesting story which adds recommended stories to their feed. There is also a separate search option to search for topics. Pipes also offers push notifications for users to receive alerts about their favourite topics.
Pipes is available for a free download from the iTunes App Store.
