According to a recent study, push notifications have helped double the mobile apps retention rates at 30, 60 and 90 days. The data was collected from a study that involved more that 39 million mobile users.
The study found that there was only a 10.1 percent retention rate for users that do not receive push notifications. There is a staggering 27.6 percent retention rate for push notification users, with the average 90 day retention rate increasing by 180 percent for opt-in users. The average retention rate increased by 25 percent for the average 30 day opted-in users.
Additionally, the report unveiled that the average 30 day and 60 day retention rates grew substantially. Push notifications drove a 124 percent increase for 30 day retention rates and a 150 percent increase for 60 day retention rates.
Android’s permission process has enabled Android to top iOS for opt-in rates by device. The average opt-in rate for Ios is around 46 percent with Android leading the way at 78 percent. Android device users are automatically opted in for messaging however the percentage will most likely be impacted after changes to the Android app permission process.
An interesting statistic is that the average mobile phone user uses 12 apps daily and has a total of 33 on their phone.
In summary, statistics have proven that for push notifications there is an average opt-in rate of 62 percent.
