QuizUp, the mobile trivia game is being relaunched as a new app focusing on social networking. So far, the developer Plain Vanilla Games which was founded in 2013 has raised a total of $27.7 million in funding. The new app has been shaped to encourage the growth of topic-focused communities as well as having the aim to build social connections between users. To date, the company has grown customer base of 33 million worldwide users with a staggering 7 million daily plays.
The new launched mobile app features new functionalities and design, including a topics tab system that allows users to navigate through 1200 quiz topics and 60000 questions, along with a new follower model and home feed. It features a home tab allowing users to follower other user profiles and quiz topics with a new user interface. This allows users to explore and network throughout the app. The relaunch was developed in the hope to build communities based on topics of interest from its users.
Thor Fridrikkson, the Founder and CEO of QuizUp said in a reason statement “We’re the first mobile gaming app to put a huge emphasis on social interaction,” He also stated that “The goal of the New QuizUp is to connect people through shared interests. QuizUp will always be a place that sparks friendly competition, but as it evolves it is also a place to meet new people and connect with users around the globe that have the same interests as you.”
