While many developers attempt to create apps targeting our younger generation, which provide both an educational and entertaining experience, there are only a handful who do it well. World renowned developer Pixowl have come together with teachers of K-12 students to create an app that is sure to test the goodness of educational apps already on the market. Aimed at a target audience of six to twelve year olds, The Sandbox EDU not only enables players to tap into their artistic side, but they’ll also be tested with the knowledge of science, math, engineering and technology.
As players progress throughout the game, the lessons become more complex and offer more challenging scenarios. One unique aspect of the game is that each level contains a fun scientific fact to enhance the educational aspect of the game even further. While the lessons are a great way for children to play through all that the app has to offer, there is also a “free play” area where players can let their imagination take over and create just about anything they can dream of.
“The Sandbox EDU app engages kids through play with real-world learning experiences as thrilling as designing machines to conducting science experiments and creating original art,” said Sebastien Borget, co-founder and COO of Pixowl. “By enabling kids to take charge and follow their interests, they become motivated critical thinkers and problem solvers with the capacity to become the designers and inventors of tomorrow.”
The Sandbox EDU will initially cost you $2.99 and is only available on iOS devices, however, we’re hoping it won’t take too long until Pixowl branches out to the Android market.
