After its initial release to iPad devices in September 2013, developers of the popular sandbox building game have recently announced that ‘Towncraft’ will soon be available on all iOS devices, including iPhone and Mac. ‘Flat Earth Games’ are hoping that the game will be a success across other iOS devices, after the rave reviews it received from iPad players. A Lead Designer from ‘Flat Earth Games’ has said that “Players around the world have provided superb feedback, letting us know they genuinely appreciate the Zen-like approach to game design, huge amount of content we’ve been adding and the lack of in-app purchases. We believe players will love the expansive world and the depth of gameplay in our new version of TownCraft.”
If you aren’t quite familiar with the game, think many similarities to the ever popular sandbox building game ‘Minecraft’. One of the most common points of interest between the two games is that players start with virtually nothing and create bigger and better in-app resources as they progress throughout the game. Players are required to build a town from scratch; harvesting crops, constructing building and hosting visitors that may just pop in from out of town. As with most sandbox building games, the gameplay time of ‘Towncraft’ is virtually limitless, the entire goal of the game to build the best village, structures, armor and recourses that you can, after starting the game with nothing.
While the concept of these types of games is relatively simple, they are fun, addictive and rewarding – or, in other words, they can easily consume hours and hours of your life (but only in a good way of course!) With ‘Towncraft’ hitting more iOS devices in the coming months, be prepared to have your hands glued to your mobile as you create the town of your dreams!
